“From Soil to Shelter: Boosting Tall Grass Growth for Natural Wind Protection”

December 13th 2025

Discover the power of drought resistant native tall grasses to hold soil and protect against wind. This weekend workshop covers both the theory and practical techniques for establishing native grass hedges in our challenging climate. Participants will measure the growth of 500 starts planted in early August and inoculate the grasses with beneficial soil microorganisms.

For whom

No prior experience is required. Open to all interested individuals—including landowners, farmers, ranchers, soil health stakeholders, and students—who are eager to learn and apply techniques that enhance soil health, biodiversity, and resilient food systems. Ideal for those who enjoy good food, hands-on outdoor activities, and connecting with a friendly community—whether for learning, networking, or simply enjoying the experience.
